Work on Paper This is a tiny selection of the hundreds of drawings I produce each year, many of them brief sketches, some worked over several days. Drawing is active looking; it enables me to know where I am, all the better to allow a certain amount of relaxaxtion in the paintings. I take great pleasure in working from classical paintings, especially Poussin, Titian & Velazquez. It gives me a greater understanding of the way the spaces are arranged within paintings in general.
